This office was founded under the JTPA regulations, whereas, up to 25% of the JTPA budget allowed for TERO activities. The JTPA supported its activities financially until the TERO ordinance was passed to allow tribal taxation from contractor work on tribal lands. The tax collected is kept separate from the E & T budget. This office is a key component in working with contractors and determining what future jobs and training are needed, as well as filling jobs that are currently available. The number of job placements and training of individuals are counted on the 477 annual report. TERO has a job bank which provides a list of area Native Americans who have specific job skills, licenses or Indian owned businesses. The list is provided to employers doing business with the Pawnee Nation. Application/Intake Process and residency verification is needed at time of Intake. This office consists of a TERO Director and a Compliance Officer. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has contracted with the Pawnee Tribal Employment Rights Office to provide continued development of indigenous capacity to enhance the employment opportunities of Indians and to identify, remedy and eliminate unlawful employment discrimination occurring on or near the reservation by supporting the work of the Tribal Employment Rights Office.
