The mission of the Pawnee Nation Fire and Rescue Department involves the protections of life and property from the adverse effects of fires, medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions through fire suppression, rescue, disaster preparedness, fire prevention and community education. The fire and rescue team focuses on rapid response to emergencies in addition to providing appropriate intervention and community education.
The current staff includes Fire Chief Pat Leading Fox and firefighters Jon James, Frank James, Monty Matlock, Kelly Kersey, Josh Daniel and Gerald Woommavovah. Pawnee Nation firefighters respond to calls within the Glencoe, Masham, Meramac, Jennings, Yale and Morrison communities. All firefighters are required to complete and maintain Firefighter 1, Medical 1st Responder (or EMT-Basic) National Registry Certification and required National Incident Management (NIMS) training. Collectively there is approximately six weeks initial training required.
