Education – Higher Education, Adult & Youth Services

Higher Education and Adult education through vocational technical schools, two-year and four-year college programs, miscellaneous classroom training as well as adult education and literacy-GED instruction, are available under this component of 477 E & T services. Youth Services range from summer enrichment camps, after school study hall to preparation for ACT/SAT testing to actual employment placement. Note: Adult/GED students as well as Higher Education students are also welcome to use the after school tutor services).

Higher Education (HIED) Scholarship Program Requirements/Documents:

  • Copy of CDIB showing 1/8 or more Pawnee blood quantum/tribal membership
  • Acceptance Letter from an accredited College /University/ School – for college credit
  • Class Schedule showing 12 or more credit hours.
  • Last Grades, (high school/GED or latest school attended).
  • Financial Need Analysis form, (filled out by Financial Aid at School)

All HIED Applicants are required to:

  • Apply to 5 other sources of funding.
  • Apply/ reapply every semester (Fall or Spring)
  • Summer school: only for seniors needing classes for immediate graduation.
  • Apply to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (fafsa.ed.gov).
  • Take a minimum of 12 credit hours.
  • Meet and maintain a 2.00 GPA.
  • Should be seeking a degree or 2 year program that will transfer to a 4 year institution.
  • There is a 10-semester funding limit, unless approved to go one more for graduation.

ForAdult Work/Training Programs, client will come in to meet with the Intake Specialist to determine what their goals and objectives are. An Employment/Education Development Plan, EDP, will be outlined in order to reach these goals.

The Youth Services Program addresses students with Academic Services (pre K-12) and Employment opportunities (14-21 years old). This program serves not only Pawnee Public Schools, but Glencoe, Cleveland and Yale schools as well. Requirements for this program is the initial application for specific school year, CDIB that will total up to 1/4 blood quantum or enrolled in a federally recognized tribe, children must also meet Federal income guidelines. Youth apply each fall and school supplies and fees for eligible students are approved by the Parent Indian Education Committee (PIEC). An after school tutoring program is provided at the RoamChief building for 6-12 graders. (Note: Adult/GED students as well as Higher Education students are also welcome to use the tutor services). Staff and the PIEC also have a minimal number of work slots available throughout the year, however most of the funds are used for the summer youth work program.
