Title VI
The purpose of the Title VI Part-A Senior Nutritional Meals/Supportive Services and Title VI Part-C Caregiver Outreach Program is to PROMOTE the delivery of supportive and nutritional services for Native American Elders that are comparable to services provided under the Title III of the Older Americans Act. The Title VI Program will serve those with the greatest economic and social needs that include low income, frail and impaired elderly that meet the age requirements of 55 years of age or older.Also, this includes providing services for the geographically and socially isolated elders who reside within the Pawnee service area. It is our intent to improve the quality of life for our elders through fostering an environment of quality, dignity and pride. This commitment extends itself through and beyond the life of the contract. Positive results will continue to be developed and adequate nutrition will be maintained for the betterment of our elderly people
The Title VI Program is compromised of three sections but only two sections are available for Native Americans who meet the eligibility criteria for the section and the specific services that are authorized by that section.
The eligibility requirements for the Title VI Program are:
- Part A Indian Program
- Federally recognized tribe;
- Represent at least 50 individuals who are 60 years of age or older
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver supportive services, including
Nutritional Services
- Part C Native American Caregiver Support Program
- Have an approved Part A or Part B application.
The required services for the Title VI Program are:
- Part A Indian Program
- Nutrition Services; and
- Supportive Services
- Part C Native American Caregiver Support Program
- Information to caregivers about available services;
- Assistance to caregivers in gaining access to the services;
- Individual counseling, organization of support groups, and caregiver training to assist the caregivers in the areas of health, nutrition, and financial literacy, and in making decisions and solving problems relating to their care giving roles;
- Respite care to enable caregivers of a frail elder to be temporarily relieved from their care giving responsibilities; and
- Supplemental services, on a limited basis, for caregivers of frail elders.

The Native American Family Caregiver Support Program can serve two types of unpaid family caregivers:
- Family caregiver: An adult family member, or another individual, who is an unpaid informal provider of in-home and community care to an older individual or to an individual with Alzheimer's disease or a related disorder with neurological and organic brain dysfunction.
- Grandparent or older individual who is a relative caregiver: A grandparent or step grandparent of a child, or a relative of a child by blood, marriage, or adoption, who is 55 years of age or older and
- Lives with a child;
- Is the primary caregiver of the child because the biological or adoptive parents are unable or unwilling to serve as the primary caregiver of the child; and
- Has a legal relationship to the child, as such legal custody or guardianship, or is raising the child informally.
- Lives with a child;
Also, there are five required services for the family caregiver support program. However, if some other program is providing the service we do not have to provide it directly but we will contact the other program and coordinate our services with them to ensure the caregivers can use the program.
The five required services are:
- Information to caregivers about available services.
- Assistance to caregivers in gaming access to the services.
- Individual counseling, organization of support groups, and caregiver training to assist the caregivers in the areas of health, nutrition, and financial literacy, and in making decisions and solving problems relating to their care giving roles.
- Respite care to enable caregivers of frail elders to be temporarily and intermittently relieved from their care giving responsibilities.
- Supplemental services, on a limited basis, to caregivers of frail elders to complement the care provided by caregivers.
