In accordance with Aricle IV, Section 4, sub-section (i) of the Consitution of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, The Pawnee Business Council shall provide an election commission to conduct all elections. Further supported by an Election Ordinance enacted by the Pawnee Business Council, the five positions on the Election Commission consist of Chairman, Clerk, Teller, Sergeant-at-Arms, and one Alternate.
The chairman serves as the facilitator at all commission meetings and procedures including the polling place. The Clerk is responsible for all election materials for each election and posting the list of voters on the day of election. The Chairman, Clerk, and Teller will count and record votes after the close of the polls. The Sergeant-at-Arms will maintain order during the election. The Alternate is available should any election official become ill or have an unforeseen emergency and will assume the responsibilty of the vacated position.
The Election Commission has the responsibility to conduct all elections in accordance with the Election Ordinance. This includes the authority to determine the eligibility of candidates. |
