Dr. Parks, Indiana University to visit Pawnee Nation


Dr. Doug Parks, Professor of Anthropology and Co-Director of the American Indian Studies Research Institute at Indiana University, and four colleagues will be visiting the Pawnee Nation for two days to discuss the Language program. The Pawnee Nation is endeavoring to create a more comprehensive program. Dr. Parks’ training was in anthropological linguistics at the University of California-Berkleley and he completed several decades of research in the area several years ago and has worked with other tribes in the United States. The Pawnee Business Council, representatives from the Pawnee Nation College, and key staff as well as interested tribal members will be in attendance. A meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Multi-Purpose Building. All interested tribal members are invited.
